I Fell Off the Wagon

Holiday time is an easy time to fall off the exercise and diet wagon. The New Year is also a time for resolutions filled with new exercise and diet programs. However, the best remedy for falling off the wagon is moderation – no matter what time of year. Rather than severely restricting caloric intake, return to some sensible eating habits. Those few extra pounds you gained will soon be shed. If not, you can always further examine your total caloric intake in a month or so.

As for exercise, you always want to return carefully to your routine. If your exercise program is too rigorous, you will be more prone to both injury and burn-out. Be honest with yourself, and above all be patient.

  • Tell a friend your intentions
  • Drink more water
  • Exercise to music
  • Clean-out and restock the fridge and pantry with healthy food
  • Prepare both meals and work-out clothes the day prior
