A Recognized Leader in Robotic Surgery

Dr. Scott Miller has been a pioneer in robotic surgery and continues to be recognized as a leader in robotic surgery today. He was the first urologist to conduct robotic surgery in Georgia, performing the first robotic prostate removal surgery in 2004. He has one of the largest, most diverse experiences in urologic robotic procedures in the Southeast, having performed more than 3,400 robotic surgeries, including 550 on the single port robot. Serving as Director of Robotic Surgical Services for Wellstar Health System, Dr. Miller oversees all robotic surgery in Wellstar locations.

“The robot doesn’t perform the surgery, the surgeon does. Guided by the surgeon, however, robots can outperform humans. Knowing that the robot’s arm can do what humans can do, only better, means the surgeon’s mind is freed up to do what the robot cannot do – that is, focus on judgement.

In November 2025, Dr. Miller became one of the first private practice physicians nationwide to perform 500 procedures.

The Future of Robotics – The Single Port Robot

Dr. Miller is one of just a few private practice physicians nationwide with extensive experience on the newest generation of surgical robots, Intuitive’s da Vinci SP Robotic System. Introduced in 2022, the single port robot requires only one small incision (instead of several). The Single Port Robot gives the surgeon a greater range of motion than the human hand. And since only one small incision is needed, it means a gentler procedure, less pain and quicker recovery for the patient.

• As of November 2025, Dr. Miller became one of the first private practice physicians nationwide to perform more than 500 procedures using the single port robot

• Dr. Miller’s expertise has made him a sought-after robotics educator, training urologists across the U.S. in best practices for SP robotic procedures
